Nine Patch Pillow Workshop

Age Population:  Adult

Introduction:

Participants will enjoy the traditional craft of quilting.  They will sew a quilt square pillow of the basic nine patch pattern.

 Background:

Quilt making is a craft tradition passed on to descendants by the African Americans who lived mostly in the Carolinas. Quilts are composed of three layers: a top, a batting or lining, and a backing.  Basic quilt patterns are composed of many pieces which may be placed in a geometric or other design format using one or more shapes.   The Nine Patch design is one fundamental block construction used in many quilts.  Participants will sew a nine patch quilt square pillow in this workshop.
